CASE STUDY:
FreedomFi
Launching a new brand, product, and website.
Role: Brand and Web Designer
Tools: Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
-
Smiley
FreedomFi describes their hardware as “the easiest path towards your open-source Private LTE or 5G network”. For their branding, we started with a logo and color exploration. While playing with a pixelated option for the letters “Fi”, I accidentally created a smiley face and thought there was something memorable happening there.
-
Appliance design
They needed to get images of the appliance on the website so that they could start accepting pre-orders, but we had no physical product in hand. I was able to get photos of a similar, white-labeled box and worked with the team to add/remove ports, apply graphics, and make it look “real”.
-
Designing the website
We iterated a bit here, first starting with a more illustrated approach. I was instructed that they wanted to show the real people that would benefit from the product, so we swapped out illustrations for photography and video.

Ready? Launch!
After polishing off some additional diagrams and making some last-minute changes to the antennae offerings, the website launched, with the hardware shipping a few months later.
